Why Me?I felt like I got to know the delightful E.P. Snider by reading her warm memoir Why Me? She sounds like someone I would like to be friends with and join her “Pickled Lilies” ladies group; someone who tells her tale no holds barred, but with a sense of humor. I like that she started off with her parents from the old countries (Poland, Lithuania, Russia) as this is an interesting background. There is a shift from her early years growing up Jewish in Ontario and Alberta, to a different life in Toronto as a mother, wife and friend. In fact a professional edit could turn this family memoir into two books that might easily become mainstream.

Having known the author for a a very long time, all of the stories in the book are TRUE!! Some of the names have been slightly changed to protect the innocent, but it's a great read! She had a unique style of writing which makes it even more interesting.
If you need a good laugh, this book is for you. (And the price is to right--------go for i t)

I loved this book. E.P. Snider has the great ability to engage the reader in the personal journeys of her life, and has knack of telling the story of times spent with her family and friends with humour and warmth. As I read, I felt a great attachment to the life and situations of all the people involved in this memoir, some sad moments, but many, many laughs as her tales unfolded. I would recommend this book to all.
E. P. Snider finds humour in real life situations. She describes her family history, living in Toronto, fun at the cottage and holidays galore. You can follow her through all her ups and downs with family and friends.
"Why me?" is something her husband often says when things just don't go as planned.
Read her story. I am one of the Pickled Lilies in chapter six and I had a good laugh!
E.P. Snider is a great success story for those who enjoy journaling and who have ever considered spending the time editing, rewriting and polishing their work for others to enjoy. Like others who have read her memoir, it will make you laugh and cry! It is a wonderful result of lifelong writing and a great legacy for her family. It is comforting to know that her great, great, great grandchildren and their future families will always have a way to enjoy E.P. and Daniel for years to come through her writing. The book is a wonderful inspiration for others and a great read!
I don't often read memoirs, but, now I will definitely read more! With finesse, flair and a great deal of humor, E.P. Snider chronicles her life so that the reader wants to follow her on her journey. Filled with heartbreak, happiness and hope, "Why Me?" had me both laughing out loud and crying. From her family and dogs to various trips around the globe, hilarious mishaps and friendship with The Pickled Lilies, I didn't want the story to end. But when it did, I was completely satisfied. This is a wonderful book and one I highly recommend.
A fascinating journey through the life of the author and her husband. I loved learning about customs and traditions so totally opposite from my own. Being a history buff, the back stories of past family members before and after coming to the US kept me glued to the pages. Filled with both humor and honesty, "Why Me" is a delightfully, charming family history that will be appreciated by readers for generations to come, both inside and outside the family.
