There are several things I look for in a book: does it take me away from my everyday, do I know the characters, do I feel sad to see the storyline end, Caroline's Secret does all of that and more!!! Wells Landing is a place I want to visit and I would love to meet Caroline and Andrew and give them a shoulder to lean on or a hug. Caroline's life has not been easy and Andrew has had his "lot" in life and both travel to Wells Landing looking for new beginnings and finding each other. Courting is not easy nor is new love but they manage to weather the storms and live with love and Faith. Amy created Wells Landing for readers to escape and make new friends.

I need a book to catch my attention on the first couple of pages....I could not put this down, stayed up way to late to finish it. I also read the second book, Courting Emily and I am waiting for the third sequel...I was not familiar with this author. I loved her first two books and will follow her in the future...
As a young Amish woman, Caroline made a horrible lapse in judgement with Trey who was an Englishman. She leaves her parents' home alone to start over in Oklahoma, there she makes close friends & has a wonderful job. After 2 years she meets & falls in love with Andrew who's just moved there. This is a wonderful story of forgiveness, sacrifices & doing what God intends for you. I would recommend this book & look forward to the next!
This is a beautiful book, marvelously written and deeply evocative. We can all appreciate the struggles of life and how unexpected the road that we find ourselves on can be. Amy Lillard does an amazing job of transporting the reader into the Amish world, with the unique travails they face. Faith in God and the type of deep love that puts others well-being before your own carry her characters through to a tear-inducing happy ending. I cannot wait to read the rest of the Wells Landing series!

I enjoy reading Amish fiction. This book was excellent. The story was different and held my interest all through the book. I had just read recently about the Amish settlements in Oklahoma and then discovered this book with the setting in Oklahoma. One thing I was not clear on was when did Esther Lapp and Abe Fitch get married? Abe had told Esther he was going to ask for a double wedding but that never happened. I thought I missed something so I re-read the last few chapters but my question was not answered. I am wondering if this wedding will occur in the next book Courting Emily? I always like it when an author puts some Amish recipes in a book especially ones that were used in the actual book. I look forward to reading the next book Courting Emily and am glad it will be released in December. This was my first book by Amy Lillard but I definitely will read more.

The secret kept me wanting to continue on and find out what her secret was all about. It was an intriguing story. I loved reading this book. I really enjoyed Caroline and Andrew. I, also enjoyed the other characters. Now and then I had to stop and get something done, but had to get right back to reading it. Caroline had quite a load to carry inside her. Glad she finally got relief, but what she had to go through to get peace. This is a book I would highly recommend. You will enjoy reading. You will enjoy it. Interesting how it ended. Amy Lillard is definitely a gifted writer.
